What is a Super D race? A super D race is best described as a downhill cross country race. They normally lack the technical danger packed elements of the downhill and in most cases, have some significant pedaling.
So your going to need a bike that takes care of this. A usual DH bike won’t cut it. The characteristics you want are a plush ride with at least 5 inchs of travel and light weight to cut time off the climb. We think we found a great bike for the task:
This particular bike has one more thing than most mountain bikes do- an extra gear. Thats right a 10 speed mountain bike. SRAM’s new XX group not only gives you a wider array of gears it also is light enough for all you weight weenies.
This bike is also equipped with Fox’s new FIT system:
The FIT replaces an open bath oil/air damping system with an enclosed cartridge that keeps air from mixing with the oil. The main benefit is it provides more consistent damping through a wide range of temperatures since the oil can’t compress like air can, and it’s not as sensitive to changes in temperature. In other words, the fork will work better regardless of the weather and after a long ride when things inside may heat up.
