There are many things that make a cyclist faster. Training, good recovery, nutrition, equipment, coaching, etc. But one aspect of cycling is almost always overlooked: fit. A good fit on your bike will make you faster, more comfortable, and will increase your enjoyment on the bike.
A good fit will get rid of those aches and pains you get in your upper and lower back, the sore knees, your aching arches, cramped wrists and tight neck. If you thought that all of these pains are just part of cycling, think again. We will get rid of them.
Most shops charge extra for fittings that only take 15 minutes and do little for your comfort on the bike. But every bike we sell comes with a custom fit, which is an ongoing process, not just a one-time thing. If you need to be re-fit a month after your original fitting, there is no extra cost. It is our goal to not only sell you a bike, but to get you out there riding and enjoying it. What’s the point of spending thousands on a bike if it goes unridden?
We’ve been studying fit systems for years and have come to the conclusion that they are all lacking something. To fix this problem, we’ve incorporated a number of these fitting systems into our own, which we call “Pro-Fitting”.
analyzes every aspect of your body in relationship to your bike, with the goal of making you more comfortable and more powerful. We do this by setting your bike up on a Compu Trainer (a bike trainer that analyzes power output), and adjusting your bike as needed. We take everything into account, which includes your bar size, stem length, seat height, position, and angle, cleat position, frame size, and of course, your body position.
Body positioning is essential to power and comfort while cycling, which is why we take the time to re-teach you, if necessary, the proper position in which to sit while on your bike.
Pedaling is another thing you may have thought, like sitting on the bike, was a given and needs no explanation, but this is not the case. The Pro-Fitting process involves teaching you how to pedal your bike more efficiently as well.
Whether you’re hoping on your first bike or an experienced road racer, triathlete, mountain biker, or commuter, a good fitting will completely change how you feel on the bike. And the change you feel will be a good one. As you’re going through the fitting process, just watch as your power output jumps 30 to 40 watts by the end.
Many of us have pronated arches, which puts excess pressure on the outside of our knees and ankles, along with foot cramping. Pronated arches also means power loss. The alignment of the leg with a pronated foot is slightly off, which causes a loss in power. To combat these problems, which can easily turn into injuries, we use custom foot insoles called ALINE’s.
ALINE’s patented Bilateral Foot Alignment Suspension Technology (BFAST) reveals your personal power position and unleashes your maximum energy and performance.
ALINEs support your foot’s natural arches, reduce impact force, and guide your foot into the proper position for total body alignment. Custom-fit ALINE’s maximize your natural athletic advantage through increased power and control while saving undue wear on the rest of your body.
Life Cycle Pro-Fitting uses a hi-tech computer system to make sure that your fit will not just feel good but will make you go faster for longer. We will work with your needs and your wants.
If you suffer from sore knees, a bad back, or just want to get faster and be able to ride longer, give us a call and set up a date to get your current bike retrofitted. There’s nothing like it and no easier way to improve your riding performance. It will change your life.
