October means two things in the Eugene bike world: new models, and the first of the rain. As I write this post, the first of this year’s rain is puddling up in the gutter. The dust in the forest is settling along with the puddles in the city, and for many this means that the road bike is getting hung up for the season, and the mountain bikes are coming out to play. With this, the new Kona Satori is a bike that cannot wait to get on the trails and help you rearrange the mud. It is no secret that we are all big fans of hard tail bikes, but every now and then a double squish ride comes along that catches our eyes. The Satori is one of those frames.
With a 68 degree head tube and 140mm front fork, this long travel 29er comes with everything you need to shred the biggest trails, the gnarliest rock gardens, and grooviest roots you can find. While this bike is still very comfortable when pedaling up hill, the geometry of this rig really shines when you start pointing downhill. The Fox Float 34 and the CrankBros. remote dropper post will help you stay comfortable while the head tube angle helps you stay back on the bike, and the full SLX drivetrain will give you the braking and gearing to control the bike in all situations. When you realize how much faster you can bomb down through the slop on an all-mountain oriented ride instead of an XC bike, you fall in love with the winter rain all over again. We have several sizes in stock, so come in today and take one out for a ride.
