What is SNAPPY?
I was not sure, until about a month ago. SNAPPY might have been the
rat-dog next door. Or what I expect when I surf the internet. I’m a
recreational rider gone racer, loving my new found speed and friends
racing around Oregon with the Poplollies Women’s Cycling Team. I was
racing this summer, feeling good about things, with sometimes numb
hands, sore back and neck, and of course tired legs. Everything was
good. I wanted to upgrade my components. And I came away with SNAPPY.

Innocently I go to Life Cycle, psyched to check out the new shop in
town. Little did I know I’d be changed forever! I asked too many
questions, too many times, and within a few weeks decided on a whole new
bike. Never heard of a Jamis before, but after my head was filled with
promises of compact geometry, the benefit of a smaller frame, lighter
frame, more power, more comfort, and this SNAPPY thing, I gave in and
just said “Order me one, I’ll try it!”.

Now I really like my old bike. Still do. But it is NOT SNAPPY. It is
like an old Subaru whose head gasket is going, but not yet gone.
RrrrRrrrRrrr. You step on it, and, then, it, starts, to go. I did not
know that there was any other way. I thought it was my legs, or my
quickness, or whatever. Gilad and Geoff convinced me that compact
geometry would feel different. It DOES! They told me the Jamis is
SNAPPY. It IS! This bike is light, it rides like a sportscar. It is
nimble on the road, it descends like a perfect downhill ski run. The
control is amazing - I had no idea what I was missing on my old bike. I
just did not know any better. And SNAPPY! I decide that I am going to
go a little faster up this hill. I turn a little acceleration on, and I
actually speed up and go! Quickly! (Not RrrrRrrrRrrr). I thought I
was destined for a life of hard work. Oh, wait, I am still destined for
a life of hard work. I need to pay for my new bike. But I am faster,
more comfortable and happier on my bike for the same amount of leg work!
SNAPPY is real.

My advice. Listen to the boys. They talk about bike stuff that I still
do not understand, but by trusting them, they did not have to give me
anything for free and I was eager to write this for their website. My
Jamis bike absolutely Rocks. My Rolf wheels roll by themselves, I
swear. My straight block cassette is amazing. Enjoy the ride, for
every ride is a good ride.

Just want to thank you for the unbelievable service you gave me at your Bike Store. The Cervelo P3 you sold me is a wonderful machine. You fit me to the bike just right. I was in a two day bike race April 26 and 27,(Battle of the Borders in Crescent City Calif. and Brookings Or.) the last stage of the race was a twenty mile time trial. I won it with a time of 48:38 on my new Cervelo P3. Thank You Again.

Cervélo Cycles saw the light of day in 1995 when 2 engineers, Phil White and Gérard Vroomen, decided to take the work they had been doing on developing faster Time Trial bikes to market. Already involved in bicycle and Human Powered Vehicle design since 1986, the turning point came when a top-ranked Italian pro cyclist approached Gérard to design the fastest possible Time Trial bike for him. He had come to the realization that his bike sponsor was capable of building traditional bikes using off the shelf tubesets from Columbus or Easton, but did not have the interest or expertise to develop leading edge designs with the focus on time trialing and aerodynamics. He also realized that he could not look at the novel designs put before him and know if they were improvements, or just “different”.

With help of his team we started the bike design from scratch. We evaluated the bikes on the market, and set a design goal for the bike that was difficult and uncompromising. We wanted something that was unbeatable in aerodynamics yet sacrificed nothing in weight or stiffness, and unfettered by issues of marketability. It was to be a one-off design for this rider.

The result was a pretty radical bike that pushed the rules in almost every area. It tested extremely well for aerodynamics, as well as handling, stiffness and comfort.

One of your first choices, and not necessarily an easy one, will be where to shop. It can be a challenge because there are a myriad of stores that carry two-wheelers, from specialty retailers, to giant department stores, to backyard garage operations.

Where you buy, however, has everything to do with what you get. You see, bicycles aren’t like toasters or suitcases. Bikes are shipped in boxes and they must be assembled and tuned.

There are many types, too, and you should never buy until you’ve figured out which is right for you. Measurements and adjustments are required to ensure the frame is the correct size and that the seat and handlebars are properly positioned. And, every new bicycle will need a minor tune-up after several weeks of use.

What’s more, modern road and mountain bikes can travel at high speeds and carry you over demanding terrain where the machine’s materials and construction get tested. A quality bicycle, carefully assembled and fit to you, will be the safest, most durable and fun bicycle to ride.

For these reasons, we strongly recommend shopping at a good specialty bicycle store in our area. Our store is owned and staffed by cycling enthusiasts who have a passion about bikes and are excited to get you riding a bike that you enjoy. Look for a store that’s well respected, has friendly helpful personnel, offers a great selection, and a professional on-site repair department.

Here are the 8 top reasons our store is the best place to shop:

1. Comfort and safety are built into every bike we sell.
2. All our new bikes are assembled by professional bicycle mechanics.
3. We allow test rides, the best way to select a new machine.
4. Our experienced staff is happy to offer all the free cycling advice you need.
5. We have the right bike for you.
6. All our bikes are guaranteed.
7. Our bikes offer the highest quality, longest life and best resale value.
8. We carry all the best accessories to go with your new bike.

1. Comfort and safety are built into every bike we sell.
Bicycles come in different sizes. And they’re very adjustable. We find the right frame size for you and then dial in the fit by positioning the seat and handlebars, brake levers and shifters as required. This ensures comfort and that you’re in complete control of your bike for safety. There are many variables, too: If you need a softer saddle, we’ll put one on. If you prefer to sit more upright, we can accommodate you. Our goal is to make your new bike as comfortable to ride and as easy to pedal as possible. We have years of experience in fitting bikes to riders and we’ll get yours fitting so good it disappears beneath you.

2. All our new bikes are assembled by professional bicycle mechanics.
You might be surprised to learn that bicycles are not completely assembled at the factory. It’s true. They’re actually delivered to us disassembled and in a box, and we spend about an hour (depending on the model) assembling, tuning and testing every bike (at no additional charge to you). This is required by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and we pride ourselves in meeting the highest standards. What’s more, our technicians and service department are always prepared to make adjustments and provide advice should you need assistance during a purchase or after a sale.

3. We allow test rides, the best way to select a new machine.
How do you know if that new rig is the right ride for you? The best test, and the truest way to judge a bike, is by taking a spin on it. Roll down the street and shift through the gears. Feel how the frame fits your legs and arms. Try the brakes. Stand up and climb. Coast a bit. Does the bike feel comfortable, easy to pedal, smooth? Is it quiet? Do you like the ride? Make some mental notes and return to our shop to try some others. We’re happy to let you compare bikes and get a feel so you find the perfect machine.

4. Our experienced staff is happy to offer all the free cycling advice you need.
We’re staffed by knowledgeable and enthusiastic cyclists who love to share their expertise. Need to learn how to shift, fix a flat, carry gear, pump your tires? Want to find the best places to ride or friends to pedal with? Just ask, and we’ll be more than happy to help.

5. We have the right bike for you.
We offer a wide selection of bicycles for different people and uses. And we provide expert assistance in selecting the proper bike type and model. For example, a road bike makes little sense if your plan is to tackle dirt trails. Likewise, if you’re into cruising, you certainly don’t need to test ride racing rigs. You need the bike type that’s right for you, and our experienced staff will listen to you and help you choose.

6. All our bikes are guaranteed.
We stand behind every bike we sell. If something goes wrong, bring it in and we’ll be happy to deal with it. In the rare event of a breakdown, there’s also a manufacturer’s warranty protecting your purchase.

7. Our bikes offer the highest quality, longest life and best resale value.
We don’t just stock any bicycles. Because we stand behind our products, we find and carry only the finest brands and models. Which means that you get a great bike that will last and last with nothing more than regular care and maintenance. And, should you decide to upgrade, you’ll be able to sell the bike for a good price.

8. We carry all the best accessories to go with your new bike.
Cycling’s most fun when you have the right gear to go along with that new bike. Our store is loaded with top-quality accessories and equipment such as helmets, locks, pumps, hydration systems, computers, and plenty of other goodies designed to help you enjoy riding. And, we’re happy to advise which
